The Willard Van Dyke Memorial Grant was inaugurated in 1987. After the death of Van Dyke, one of the original co-founders of the NMCP wished to honor him by namimg a grant for emerging young New Mexico photographers after him. Van Dyke's lifelong concern for young artists is perpetuated in the grant. The Willard Van Dyke Grant has awarded over $14,000 to emerging New Mexico photographers since its inception. More than 50 photographers from throughout the State of New Mexico apply each year.

The New Mexico Council on Photography is pleased to offer the Beaumont Newhall Publication Assistance Grant which is to be awarded every two years.
These funds are intended to assist non-profit institutions in publishing significant works on historical and contemporary photographic issues realting to New Mexico. The Newhall Grant is designed to provide funding to enhance the quality of photographic publications, specifically in regard to the design, printing and production of photographic books, catalogues and other printed matter that focus on issues relating to New Mexico. The next award will given in 2010.
The New Mexico Council on Photography is pleased to offer the Eliot Porter Grant which is to be awarded every two years.
These funds are intended to assist an established New Mexican photographer for a project in process. The Porter Grant is designed to provide funding to enhance the quality of photographic printing, specifically in regard to the purchase of photographic materials and expenses necessary for the production of a photographic body of work proven to well underway.
The NMCP annually purchases original photographic artwork by women for the Jane Reese Williams Collection. The Reese Collection houses over 2,500 original works by some of the leading practicioners of photography.
In addition to historial works by noted photographer such as Julia Margaret Cameron and Margaret Bourke White the collection heavily emphasizes modern and comtemporary prints. The Reese collection is housed in the Fine Arts Museum, Santa Fe, NM
Van Deren Coke was a curator, teacher, author and photographer with an eye for the experimental and surreal.Concurrently, he established a reputation as a historian and teacher of art and photography at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in the 1960's and as a curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He was the founding director of the University of New Mexico Art Museum and donated more than 1,200 items of his own collection to it. These included rare prints from photography's infancy and prints by Walker Evans and Henri Cartier-Bresson. The NMCP is working to establish a memorial award in the name of Van Deren Coke.
